She appears in the book Comet in Moominland, New Moomin and Moominsummer Madness and is asleep throughout Moominvalley Midwinter. In the 1969 anime series Moomin and its 1972 successor, New Moomin, she is named Nonnon and in the 2014 stop-motion television series Moomin on the Riviera she is known as Floren, probably for reasons of convenience and to match her flower-like appearance.

She is playful and imaginative, just like her brother. She is loyal to her friends and loves listening to Moominpappa’s stories. She is also quite emotional.

She then finds Moomintroll who treats her with respect and genuinely enjoys her company. He is the first man who has ever treated her in that way, and she instantly falls for him. She’s completely dependent on Moomintroll now to make her happy. This is a toxic relationship and should be ended.

This is a major contributor to Snorkmaiden’s internalized misogyny that we see in the comics, and she needs to break away from this cycle to realize that she has many wonderful qualities that she can share with her friends. She’s a great person, and she deserves to love all parts of herself. Then she will be happy, whether Moomintroll is there or not.
